Rose Avenue drainage improvements
Five of seven streets in the College Acres area have been repaved as part of a $1.2 million project to repave several miles of city streets. The project, which began on July 29, involves repaving and some drainage improvements on streets in the College Acres area. This is the first major roadway contract in the city’s 5-Year Improvement Plan, which includes a $41 million list of repaving and infrastructure repairs that had been put on hold during the economic downturn.

Paving is now complete on the following streets:
  • Park Avenue between Hawthorne Drive and Hinton Avenue
  • 52nd Street between Oleander and Hawthorne drives
  • Oriole Drive between Racine and Cardinal drives
  • Clear Run Drive between College Acres and Cardinal drives

Crews installed drainage improvements on Rose Avenue near Andover Road and Mallard Street between Clear Run and Widgeon drives during the week of Aug. 12. A large pipe was installed under the road to improve drainage in the area.

During the week of Aug. 19, work will begin to repave Mallard Street between Rill Road and Widgeon Drive and Rose Avenue from Riegel to Hooker roads. The city coordinated repaving work with stormwater and water/sewer improvements in order to minimize traffic disruptions.
