Three churches will host a Gun Buy-Back effort sponsored by LINC Inc. and supported by WPD, Pender County and NHC Sheriff's Office on Saturday, August 24th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Individuals who turn in guns will be offered $100 for working handguns and $200 for assault weapons. The monies will be in the form of VISA gift cards or cash. Law Enforcement officers will be on hand to collect the guns.
The following churches are participating:

- Grace United Methodist Church - 401 S. Grace

- St. Andrews AMEZ Church - 1201 S. 9th St.
Pastor Henry Gregory III
The event is in memory of 19 year old Josh Proutey and 8 year old Demetrius Greene - two young men who lost their lives at the hands of gunmen. The effort will be hosted by LINC Incorporated, a local non-profit agency whose goal is to educate and motivate youth to make positive life choices.
