The city will hold a meeting on Oct. 8 at 5 p.m. to discuss the design of a walkway under the mainland side of the Heide Trask Bridge. The meeting will be held at St. Andrews on the Sound Church, located at 101 Airlie Rd. The public is invited to drop in between 5-6:30 p.m. to review the plan, provide input and meet with staff.
The walkway will be an extension of the Gary Shell Cross-City Trail
planned along Eastwood Rd/Wrightsville Ave. The project is estimated to cost $700,000 and is partially funded by a grant from NCDOT. The walkway will provide safe access for cyclists and pedestrians going to the beach and crossing Wrightsville Ave to the commercial area on Airlie Rd.
