Neighborhood outreach meetings

On Thursday, Oct. 17, the City of Wilmington will hold the first of 12 neighborhood outreach meetings to get input from citizens about what they like and don’t like about their neighborhoods, as well as what they want to keep and what they want to change. Input from the neighborhoods will serve as the building block for the city’s long-term plan that, when finalized, will serve as the policy foundation for decision-making to proactively manage growth and change.

Thursday’s meeting will be held for the Sunset Park-Woodlawn Area at 6:30 p.m. at Sunset Park Elementary School, located at 613 Alabama Avenue.

At each of the 12 meetings, area residents will be asked to provide input through interactive exercises and will also hear in-depth information about how land is used in their neighborhoods and what types of buildings are included, as well as a look at geographic and socioeconomic characteristics.

There will be two meetings each month through April 2014 (except December), followed by a city-wide meeting.
