There will be limited court availability at Empie Park tennis courts from Nov. 7-10 and Nov. 14-17 due to the United States Tennis Association's NC Combo Doubles State Championships. This will be the third year in a row Wilmington was selected to host the event.
The City of Wilmington's Althea Gibson Tennis Complex at Empie Park will be the main site for the championships. Other area parks, country clubs and UNCW will also host matches to help with the influx of the more than 1,200 participants expected each weekend from across the state.
Over 700 area hotel rooms have been blocked to accommodate the players, their friends and family who will be visiting Wilmington for the event. The economic impact for our area is projected to be more than $2.5 million.
