Echo Farms-Rivers Edge residents turn out for meeting

    Echo Farms - Rivers Edge ages

About two-thirds of the residents in the Echo Farms-Rivers Edge community are over 30.  

More than 70 residents attended the City of Wilmington's fifth neighborhood planning area meeting at Codington Elementary School on Jan. 16. Residents shared what they love about their neighborhoods, what they’d like to change, and their big ideas for the future of the area.

Among the things residents liked about their community were the area’s mature trees, the golf course and natural areas. They would like to add more left turn arrows at traffic signals and sidewalks and bike paths. In the future, they hope to see increased water access, additional turn signals and making Echo Farms a gated community. 

The age of Echo Farms-Rivers Edge residents over 65 is expected to increase by 97 percent between 2012 and 2017.

The meetings also include a Kid's Corner so the youngest members of our community can provide their input.

The next Neighborhood Planning Area meeting will be for residents of the Rogersville/Bradley Creek community on January 23rd at 6:30 p.m. in the parish hall of St. Andrews On-the-Sound at 101 Airlie Road.

Two meetings will be held each month through April.
