Convention Center hotel

The Wilmington City Council approved a purchase and development agreement for the sale of land and the construction of a privately-owned hotel next to the Wilmington Convention Center at their Feb. 4 meeting.

About the hotel

  • Harmony Hospitality, Inc. to purchase about ¾-acre adjacent to Convention Center for $578,820 - the same amount previously published in three publicly advertised requests for proposals
  • Construction of a $33.6 million, privately-owned 186-room Embassy Suites hotel
  • Would include meeting space, pool, full service restaurant with room service
  • 250 reserved spaces for hotel in city’s 578-space parking deck for $100 per month per space, which is the current publicly established parking rate
  • Construction expected to begin late this summer with completion in summer 2015
