Work to install 600 feet of pipe that will improve drainage between Antelope Trail Drive and Kelly Road is now complete. Crews expect to finish clean-up of the area by Memorial Day.
The 2.5-foot diameter pipe was installed next to a deteriorated pipe, which was installed before the area was annexed in 1998 when there was no formal stormwater program.
The new pipe prevented flooding during heavy rains around Easter last month. Fawn Creek Drive - which used to flood during rain events - did not flood even when the area recently received 2 inches of rain in a short period of time.
In addition, the new improvements allowed the city to turn more than half of the property previously needed for maintenance back over to the homeowners.
The $300,000 project began in December 2013.
