Monday, June 2, City Council budget work session
City Council held a work session on the 2014-2015 budget following their agenda briefing on June 2.

Items of interest on the agenda included:
- APPROVED: Resolution approving a refinancing that will save more than $2 million; the savings will be applied toward the city’s retiree pension costs.
- APPROVED: Three related resolutions regarding a potential $55 million transportation bond referendum on the November 4 ballot. A public hearing on the bond referendum has been scheduled for July 8. Background on this item can be found here.
- APPROVED: Three resolutions to purchase new vehicles to replace old ones, including three trucks for tree and traffic signal maintenance, 22 police cars and two dump trucks for streets and stormwater maintenance; all of these items are already included in this year’s budget.
- APPROVED: First of two votes for the FY 2014-2015 budget. The second and final vote is scheduled for the June 17 Council meeting. Highlights of the proposed budget can be found here.

The next Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 17. The agenda for the next meeting will be posted on the city's website on Friday, June 13.
Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers, which is located on the second floor of City Hall at 102 North 3rd Street. Parking is available in the Thalian Hall parking lot or in the city parking deck located directly across from City Hall.
