Final shaping of bunkers and greens at hole #1
Truckloads of sod started arriving on June 24 at the ongoing renovation of the City of Wilmington’s Municipal Golf Course. The installation began in front of the bunkers on the west side of the course that have already been re-shaped as part of the renovation. All told, about 32 truckloads of sod will be delivered over the next couple of weeks.
This phase of the project is expected to take 2-3 weeks and involves the installation of 8 acres of sod around the bunkers, as well as hand-planting grass – called “sprigging” – approximately 12 acres of grass on the approaches and surrounds of the newly shaped greens.
The last phase will be “sprigging” the actual greens, which is expected to begin July 10.
