About 75 people came out to Halyburton Park on June 25 to view six sample maps showing different ideas for how Wilmington can manage an expected rate of growth of 52 percent by 2040. Each map focused on a different area of concern, such as transportation, streets and neighborhoods, and included ideas from input previously collected from hundreds of citizens. Residents were encouraged to provide feedback on each of the ideas already listed on the maps as well as offer ideas of their own.
The maps will be featured separately on the city’s citizen engagement site ConnectWilmington.org throughout the summer to get additional feedback on each vision for future growth.
This is the next phase in an 18-month process to gather and use citizen input to develop a long-term growth plan for Wilmington.
