As proclaimed by the Wilmington City Council at their June 17 meeting, Monday, June 30
is “#spreadtheWilm Day
.” The day has been designated to support the Wilmington and Beaches Convention and Visitors Bureau’s (CVB) social media campaign promoting tourism to the Cape Fear area. At the June 17 meeting, Mayor Bill Saffo encouraged “all residents to join the conversation by taking pictures and videos of things they love about Wilmington and post them to social media channels using the hashtag #spreadtheWilm.”
Visitors and residents are encouraged to share photographs and comments on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram using the hashtag #spreadtheWilm. Each post will be displayed at spreadthewilm.com and pictures will be entered into a social media contest conducted by the CVB through the end of August. Weekly winners will qualify for a grand prize “staycation” drawing.
