The City of Wilmington launched its official presence on the private neighborhood social networking site “Nextdoor” this month.
On Nextdoor, neighbors create unique, private social media sites for their neighborhoods where they can ask questions, get to know one another and exchange local advice and recommendations. The city will use Nextdoor as another tool to share and communicate important news and updates, services, programs, meetings, public events and emergency notifications relevant to specific neighborhoods.
In Wilmington, more than 20 neighborhoods are already active and sharing information. To become active, Nextdoor requires that at least 10 residents in the neighborhood sign up. Those interested in joining their neighborhood’s Nextdoor website can visit nextdoor.com and enter their address. If residents have questions about their Nextdoor website, they can visit help.nextdoor.com.
