Yard waste increases by 60%
Wilmington residents are doing a lot of spring cleaning in their yards this year. Due to maintenance issues with older city trucks and the high volume of yardwaste being generated, the city's yard waste pick-up is running 2-3 days behind. Bike to Work Week a success!

City receives $400,000 federal grant
On May 28, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that the City of Wilmington will receive $400,000 in federal funding to continue its efforts to clean and redevelop contaminated properties - known as brownfields - as part of a long-term effort to redevelop old industrial and commercial sites in the city. City pools open for Memorial Day!
The city's swimming pools will be open Saturday, May 24; Monday, May 26 (Memorial Day); Saturday, May 31, Saturday, June 7 and Saturday, June 14. The pools will officially open for the summer season on June 16. The Northside Splash Pad will officially open on May 24. [Read more...]
City offices closed May 26
City of Wilmington offices will be closed on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day. Trash service will run on a regular schedule. City customers who normally have their trash and yard waste picked up on Mondays are asked to have all items curbside by 7:30 a.m.
