Firefighter Memorial unveiling

The Firefighter Memorial at Empie Fire Station is set to be unveiled on Wednesday, September 11 at 6 p.m. The memorial honors the 7 Wilmington firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty as well as the 343 NYC firefighters who perished during the 9-11 attack.

USCG Riverwalk repairs

Due to repairs the US Coast Guard is making to the riverfront bulkhead, the southbound lane of Water Street between Princess and Market streets is closed. Water Street will reopen for Labor Day weekend, but the Friday night Downtown Sundown concert and the Sunday Downtown Wilmington Historic Marketplace will be relocated because of the construction.

City offices closed Sept. 2
City of Wilmington offices will be closed on Monday, September 2 in observance of Labor Day. Trash service will run on a regular schedule.

Pools open for Labor Day

City pools will be open for Labor Day then will close for the season. Except, that is, for Legion Stadium Pool, which will be the scene for the annual Pooch Plunge! Dogs across the area look forward to this week every year when the pool goes to the dogs!

Rose Ave & Mallard repaving

Lane closures on Rose Avenue, Mallard Street and Widgeon Drive through August 30 while the roads are repaved as part of the city's 5-Year Improvement Plan.

Longstreet Drive closure

There will be single lane traffic on Longstreet Drive between Shipyard Blvd. and Pine Valley Dr. from Aug. 26-30 so that the road can be repaved.
