New Hanover, Brunswick oppose sales tax legislation
New Hanover and Brunswick officials joined together to speak out against proposed legislation that would redistribute sales taxes in the state. Cities and counties with tourist destinations such as New Hanover and Brunswick counties stand to lose the most under legislation currently being considered by the NC General Assembly. The legislation would change how the state distributes a portion of sales taxes collected when people buy clothing, building materials and other goods. [Read more...]

Local nonprofit Kids Making It, Inc., with almost $21,000 in City of Wilmington funds, will cap off a

summer employment program next week by installing raised planting beds at Robert R. Taylor Senior Homes on Monday, August 10. Taylor Homes is located at 1308 N. 5th Avenue.
