City offices closed Sept. 2

Pools open for Labor Day

City pools will be open for Labor Day then will close for the season. Except, that is, for Legion Stadium Pool, which will be the scene for the annual Pooch Plunge! Dogs across the area look forward to this week every year when the pool goes to the dogs!

Rose Ave & Mallard repaving

Lane closures on Rose Avenue, Mallard Street and Widgeon Drive through August 30 while the roads are repaved as part of the city's 5-Year Improvement Plan.

Longstreet Drive closure

There will be single lane traffic on Longstreet Drive between Shipyard Blvd. and Pine Valley Dr. from Aug. 26-30 so that the road can be repaved.

Riverwalk repairs update

The US Coast Guard is making some immediate repairs to the bulkhead near Riverfront Park. The repairs began on August 26 are scheduled to be complete by September 6, impacting traffic and two weekend events in the area.

Gun buy-backs Saturday
Three churches will host a Gun Buy-Back effort sponsored by LINC Inc. and supported by WPD, Pender County and NHC Sheriff's Office on Saturday, August 24th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Individuals who turn in guns will be offered $100 for working handguns and $200 for assault weapons. [Read more...]
Naming ceremony for Cross-City Trail bridge
On Friday, August 23 at 3 p.m., the newly constructed bridge located at the foot of Teal Street will be named for former NC Board of Transportation member Mike Alford for his contributions to improve transportation throughout the Wilmington region. [Read more...]
