Major street paving project gets underway
Beginning this week, a project to make stormwater drainage improvements and repave almost 7 lane miles of city streets in the College area gets underway. One lane mile equals each mile of lanes paved. The $1.2 million project is the first major roadway contract in the city’s Five-Year Improvement Plan, which includes a $41 million list of projects approved by City Council last year. [Read more...]

Riverwalk exploratory work

The southbound lane of Water St will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.. during the week of July 29 and part of the week of August 5 for exploratory work on the bulkhead in front of the Federal Building near the USCG Diligence.

Safer Route to School

Crews are completing drainage improvements and have begun installing sidewalk along Greenville Loop Road between Greenville Village and Bradley Creek Elementary. Traffic delays can be expected as the work continues.

NCDOT public meeting July 25

The NCDOT will hold a public information meeting on Thursday, July 25 from 5-7 pm concerning replacement of the N. 3rd Street bridge. The meeting will take place in City Council Chambers at City Hall.

Riverwalk gets a facelift

Wilmington's #1 tourist attraction - the Riverwalk - is receiving a facelift. The city is working to maintain existing sections, improve adjacent areas such as Riverfront Park and continue extending the Riverwalk to the north.

Summer newsletter is out!

New fire stations in the works
The city is now working on preliminary designs for two new fire stations. This spring, the city began implementing a plan to relocate four of its fire stations and build two new stations in order to help improve response times to emergencies in more up-to-date facilities. [Read more...]
