Drainage improvements

Major street paving project gets underway
Beginning this week, a project to make stormwater drainage improvements and repave almost 7 lane miles of city streets in the College area gets underway. One lane mile equals each mile of lanes paved. The $1.2 million project is the first major roadway contract in the city’s Five-Year Improvement Plan, which includes a $41 million list of projects approved by City Council last year. [Read more...]
Safer Route to School

Crews are completing drainage improvements and have begun installing sidewalk along Greenville Loop Road between Greenville Village and Bradley Creek Elementary. Traffic delays can be expected as the work continues.

Rain gardens help stormwater runoff
The City of Wilmington and NC State University have a federal grant to make improvements to help curb polluted stormwater runoff flowing into Burnt Mill Creek. These improvements include recent installations of pavement that allows stormwater to drain through it and rain gardens. [Read more...]
Heavy rains no match for Stormwater projects
The recent heavy rains have been no match for the city's completed Stormwater projects. Projects totaling over $5 million completed in 2012 alleviate flooding in problem areas and lessen stormwater pollution. [Read more...]
Barksdale Rd. drainage improvements

One block of Barksdale Drive will be closed through the end of the month beginning June 12 for drainage improvements. After the improvements are installed, the road will be repaved and will receive new curbing.
