Section of Riverwalk to close
A section of the Riverwalk behind the Brooks Building on Water Street is closing during the week of Sept. 15 for safety reasons. Although the city owns the Riverwalk, owners of the Brooks Building own the deteriorating concrete platform that supports it. [Read more...]

Riverwalk improvements continue
The City of Wilmington’s Riverwalk is the city’s #1 tourist attraction and work is currently underway to maintain existing sections and extend the Riverwalk to the north. When complete, the Riverwalk will stretch 1.75 miles between the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and the Isabel Holmes Bridge. [Read more...]

Muters Alley park reopens

The Muters Alley pocket park, which had been closed since mid-September 2013, has reopened as crews put finishing touches on pavers and landscaping.

Land purchased for northern riverfront park
On December 2, as scheduled, the City of Wilmington finalized the purchase of 6.63 acres along the northern downtown riverfront for a passive public park. The property, previously owned by Riverfront Holdings II, is part of a larger piece of the former Almont Shipping Company property. [Read more...]
Riverfront repairs continue

Work is underway to replace an old concrete underwater retaining wall on the riverfront at Muters Alley. As a result, one block of the Riverwalk is closed between Orange and Dock streets. All businesses will remain open.

USCG Riverwalk repairs

Due to repairs the US Coast Guard is making to the riverfront bulkhead, the southbound lane of Water Street between Princess and Market streets is closed. Water Street will reopen for Labor Day weekend, but the Friday night Downtown Sundown concert and the Sunday Downtown Wilmington Historic Marketplace will be relocated because of the construction.

Riverwalk repairs continue

The Downtown Sundown concert on Aug. 16 and the Sunday Downtown Wilmington Historic Marketplace on Aug. 18 have been relocated due to work on the bulkhead near the Diligence. Water Street will remain open.
