Riverwalk update

Although the exploratory excavations that the US Coast Guard have been conducting in Riverfront Park are set to wrap up during the week of August 12, Water Street will be open to all traffic sometime on Friday, August 9.

Section of Rose Avenue closed August 12

A small section of Rose Avenue just north of Andover Drive will be closed from Monday, August 12 through Friday, August 16 so that crews can install drainage improvements in preparation for repaving the road.

Repaving continues in College Acres area

The $1.2 million, month-long street paving project in the College Acres area is the first major roadway contract in the city’s 5-Year Improvement Plan. Repaving is now complete on 52nd Street and Park Avenue, and crews have moved to Oriole and Clear Run drives.

Major street paving project gets underway
Beginning this week, a project to make stormwater drainage improvements and repave almost 7 lane miles of city streets in the College area gets underway. One lane mile equals each mile of lanes paved. The $1.2 million project is the first major roadway contract in the city’s Five-Year Improvement Plan, which includes a $41 million list of projects approved by City Council last year. [Read more...]
Riverwalk exploratory work

The southbound lane of Water St will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.. during the week of July 29 and part of the week of August 5 for exploratory work on the bulkhead in front of the Federal Building near the USCG Diligence.

Safer Route to School

Crews are completing drainage improvements and have begun installing sidewalk along Greenville Loop Road between Greenville Village and Bradley Creek Elementary. Traffic delays can be expected as the work continues.

The Wrightsville Beach drawbridge will be up longer than normal Wednesday, June 19 at 5 p.m. so that a house can be transported by barge on the Intracoastal Waterway. The house will then be transported by land on Thursday morning starting at 9 a.m., blocking both lanes of U.S. 74.

Bradley Creek sidewalks

Intermittent lane closures can be expected on Greenville Loop Road as crews install drainage improvements in preparation for construction of a 1/2-mile long sidewalk to Bradley Creek Elementary.
