City saves $257,000 by recycling

Over the past year, the City of Wilmington has saved more than $257,000, thanks to city recycling customers. City recycling customers recycled about 8 percent more this past fiscal year than they did in the previous year.

City receives recycling grant
The City of Wilmington’s recycling program continues to expand in an effort to reduce landfill waste and save money. At their meeting tonight, the City Council will receive a $25,000 state grant that will be used to add 19 new recycling receptacles to pedestrian areas on North Front and North Third Streets. Arthur causes small delay in yard waste pickup

Hurricane Arthur generated enough excess yard debris to cause a 1/2 day delay in yard waste pickup. Citizens are asked to leave yard waste curbside until it is collected as crews will be working on July 9 and July 12 to get caught up.

City offices closed Friday

City offices will be close on July 4 for Independence Day. Trash service will run on a normal schedule, however. City trash customers with Friday pickup should have all items curbside by 7:30 a.m.

Yard waste pickup on schedule

City of Wilmington offices will be closed on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day. Trash service will run on a regular schedule. City customers who normally have their trash and yard waste picked up on Mondays are asked to have all items curbside by 7:30 a.m.
