In May 2006, residents of Wilmington and New Hanover County passed a combined $35.5 million bond referendum to expand parks, green space and cultural facilities throughout Wilmington, New Hanover County and the beach towns. The bond funds will be used to purchase park lands and improve recreation areas throughout Wilmington and New Hanover County.
In addition to the bond projects, the City also has capital improvement funds that are allocated to projects such as Wade Park.
