The U. S Police Canine Association PD1 Certification trials, hosted by Carolina Beach and Kure Beach Police Departments, concluded on Oct. 31. The Wilmington Police Department was one of several area law enforcement agencies that participated in the trials. Region 2 consists of canine teams from North and South Carolina.
The WPD K-9 Unit partnered with New Hanover County Sheriff's Department K-9 Sergeant Benton to form a four-person team that took first place honors. Here are results from the combined effort:
