Since 2002, the City of Wilmington has experienced remarkable results in reducing crime. For example, Part I Crime as measured by the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) standards has decreased -26.6%. The chart below illustrates this progress in graphical form -- 2,320 fewer Part I Crimes. Please note that in 2012, the City of Wilmington annexed a portion of New Hanover County which was later removed by legislative actions. Only 2012 reflects crime stats for this brief period of annexation.
