Fiscal Support Specialist

The function of the Administrative Support Specialist - Payroll/HR is to:

  • Act as a liaison between the city HR department and WPD
  • Assist employees with questions and concerns regarding issues such as benefits and FMLA
  • Act as the department contact for Kronos (automated payroll system)
  • Answer questions about payroll and timekeeping
  • Act as the departmental contact for all employee injuries
  • Assist injured employees through the Worker's Compensation process
  • Act as the administrator for the Human Patterns appraisal system

The function of the Fiscal Support Specialist in the Support Services Division is to:

  • Obtain those materials and services that are needed by support services staff in order to effectively, and efficiently, carry out their daily duties
  • Monitor the expenditures of approximately $3.3 million for the operating costs for that division
  • Enter budget estimates for support services and assist other divisions with same
  • Enter and submit budget adjustments for all divisions in the department
  • Attend all city meetings dealing with budget matters pertaining to the Police Department
  • Make sure all vendors are paid in a timely manne
  • Work with the City Purchasing Office to ensure competitive bidding practices are followed
