Environmental compliance officers insure that industries comply with the City’s Sewer Use Ordinance. Discharges from industrial and commercial establishments are regulated to protect the health and safety of City workers and the general public, and to prevent plant upsets.
Regular monitoring also reduces the risk of “pass-through” pollutant exposure in the water, land, and air. Industrial and commercial surveys, industrial user permits, water quality monitoring, and on-site inspections are helpful in determining compliance.
The Pretreatment Program Staff provide outreach and educational programs to emphasize the detrimental impact fats, oils, and grease (F.O.G.) have on the City’s sewer collection system.
