To help ease traffic congestion, the intersection of Masonboro Loop, Masonboro Sound and Pine Grove roads will be realigned. The $734,549.84 project involves changing the alignment of the intersection so that Pine Grove Road flows smoothly into Masonboro Loop Road. Masonboro Sound Road will form a "T" at the intersection and all traffic approaching the intersection must stop. This will help alleviate the traffic back up on Masonboro Loop Road during rush hour.
While construction is underway, traffic delays and temporary closures may be expected. Travelers may use Beasley Road as an alternate route. All businesses in the Courtyard at Masonboro and located in the affected area will remain open and accessible. The intersection will remain open to local traffic.
The city regrets any inconvenience that might be caused while we work to improve traffic flow and safety in this area. The project is expected to be complete in the fall.
Project updates will be posted here and on the city's Facebook page.
