As of July 2011, North Carolina state legislation banned TVs and computers from NC landfills. The City of Wilmington no longer picks up these items. - Beginning May 15th, New Hanover County's Environmental Management department will accept household hazardous waste materials six days a week includeing electronics. Bring all items to the New Hanover County Environmental Management Office located at 3002 Hwy421 N Wilmington 28401. Call 910-798-4400 for more information. - By North Carolina Law, all computer equipment manufacturers, including makers of desktops, laptops, computer monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards and mice must offer a no-cost recycling program to North Carolina households.
