Introduction
On July 1, 2008, the city and New Hanover County merged their water and sewer systems to create the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA). CFPUA is an independent, local government entity formed to more efficiently and effectively provide water and sewer service to city and county residents alike. Utility Billing
CFPUA is currently working though some billing issues experienced following the consolidation. Please visit the billing page on the CFPUA website for important information regarding your bill.

Billing will continue on a bimonthly basis. Customers may make their payments in person at 305 Chestnut Street downtown, at 235 Government Center Drive across from the New Hanover County complex or via check (made payable to CFPUA). An automatic bank draft payment option will also be offered. Customers who currently pay via automatic bank draft will receive a form to confirm that they wish to continue this payment arrangement.

City Trash and Stormwater Billing
City trash and stormwater charges will also be included on your bimonthly bill from CFPUA. City bills for May/June were lower than normal because base charges for water, sewer, trash and stormwater were not included. Fees for these services will be billed in July/August from CFPUA.
