New: Candidate will be responsible for support and administration of the Police Department’s networks and servers in conjunction and maintained by City’s IT Department, with a major focus on police related applications and technical issues. Candidate will assist with the implementation and maintenance of the network infrastructure improvements and project coordination. Candidate must have working knowledge or experience in design concepts, conceptual understanding of networking and client-server principals, database development, software tools and a variety of systems and applications. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field and 2 years of related systems experience or programming experience; or Associate's Degree in Computer Science or a related field and 4 years related systems or programming experience. Valid NC driver’s license required. Experience with software packages for desktop and browser based environment on various Windows server and workstation platforms, NET, SQL Server, Crystal Reports, IBM iSeries, RPG, CL and enterprise applications and wireless data systems is preferred. Experience in a Law Enforcement environment is preferred. DRIVING AND CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK REQUIRED. Salary Range: $42,978-$68,770. The City of Wilmington is currently accepting applications from North Carolina BLET (Basic Law Enforcement Training) certified applicants or equivalent out of state certification as determined by the Wilmington Police Department and those currently attending a full-time BLET program.. The successful candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:
·         20 years of age at the time the application is submitted
·         Must have a valid driver’s license and meet NC DMV standards
·         U. S. Citizen
·         Possess a High School Diploma or GED
·         Basic Law Enforcement Training Certification
 
All applicants must complete a Wilmington Police Department application packet to be considered. List of automatic disqualifiers will be included in the applicant packet. Candidates must successfully complete the recruitment process including: physical abilities testing; written examination; video assessment, background investigation; interview; psychological evaluation; polygraph; medical examination with drug screen. Minimum Starting Rate: $34,000. Comprehensive benefits package including retirement, paid vacation, sick and holidays, health insurance and 4.5% contribution to a deferred compensation plan. Currently accepting applications through Friday, September 5, 2008 at 5:00pm.
