The Wilmington Fire Department, led by Chief C.V. "Buddy" Martinette, provides protection to the citizens of Wilmington from fire and other related emergencies through education, fire and life safety inspections, suppression, and fire investigations. The fire department responds to all hazardous materials incidents and provides First Responder Emergency Service. A fire boat and many special teams are part of the Department.
Headquarters is located at 801 Market Street and Wilmington is proud of the department's "Class Two" nationwide rating which reflects both superior equipment and manpower.
