Bat Box Building Workshop

  • Date: 05/29/2018 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Introduction: Join us for a Bat Box Building Workshop!

Cost:    Bat boxes and materials will be provided, but a materials fee of $10/box will apply. Please bring cash or check (made payable to NC WRC) to pay for materials fee

Learn how bats enrich our lives and what we can do to help them survive. Your family will build a bat box to take home to provide bat roosts where active bats can use them and create roosting areas.

Limit of 10 boxes to be constructed, 1 per family. Parents must stay and participate with children. Please feel free to bring a drill or hammer (not required for participation). There will be one bat box donated to The New Hanover County Arboretum to encourage bat roosting.

Instruction and resources will be provided about the biology of bats and placement of bat boxes for greater success. Find out how you can help bat biologists by participating in our citizen science program and becoming a Bat Steward.

Participants are eligible for Criteria II credits of NC OEE Environmental Education Certification and school teachers receive CEU credit.
