Special Olympics New Hanover County provides year-round sports training, competition, social events, and the Camp Shriver summer camp for people ages 8 and older with intellectual disabilities.

More than 600 athletes participate in Special Olympics New Hanover County. The program relies on private and corporate support as well as the efforts of over 300 volunteers. These services are provided at no cost to the athletes or their families.


Planning Commission

The City of Wilmington Planning Commission will hold a public meeting Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 6:00 P.M. in the Wilmington Convention Center, 10 Convention Center Dr., Wilmington, NC. Due to public health and safety concerns from COVID-19, public participation may be limited.  Public comments can be submitted via the public comment form.  For those who wish to speak at the meeting, an area within the convention center will be available for the public. The meeting will be streaming live on  GTV8

For those who wish to speak at the meeting, several separate areas within the convention center will set aside for the public that will allow for recommended social distancing. A podium and free standing microphone will also be provided, both of which will be sanitized after each speaker.
