Special Olympics New Hanover County provides year-round sports training, competition, social events, and the Camp Shriver summer camp for people ages 8 and older with intellectual disabilities.

More than 600 athletes participate in Special Olympics New Hanover County. The program relies on private and corporate support as well as the efforts of over 300 volunteers. These services are provided at no cost to the athletes or their families.


Special Council Meeting

This is the first of four special council meetings in June to allow Council to catch up on land-use items that were delayed during the initial phase of COVID-19. The agenda for this special meeting will be available here by 9:00 am Tuesday June 2. If you would like to provide written comments for one of the public hearings at this meeting, you can do so via this online comment form. Comments received electronically will be entered into the record if they are received prior to 10 am Monday, June 8.
