Celebrate National Crime Prevention Month with WPD

Post Date:09/29/2017 1:29 PM

Crime Prevention Month FlyerThe Wilmington Police Department will host several events throughout October in celebration of National Crime Prevention Month.

The events, which include tours of the police station and a women’s self-defense class, are geared toward building community relations and equipping residents with the knowledge to help reduce crime. We will also offer a daily crime prevention tip on social media throughout the month.

The City of Wilmington experienced a decline in overall crime totals in 2016 and is on track to do the same in 2017. Join us as we celebrate our efforts, made possible through community support and partnerships with other law enforcement agencies, to fight crime daily.

The events:
Oct. 4: Coffee with a Cop, 8:30-10:30 a.m. at McDonald’s 822 S. College Road
Oct. 10: WPD Station Tour, 6 p.m., 615 Bess St.
Oct. 12: WPD Station Tour, 6 p.m., 615 Bess St.
Oct. 19: Women’s Self-Defense Class, 6-8 p.m., Grace United Methodist Church, 401 Grace St., Space is limited to 25 participants. RSVP to Jennifer Dandron at 910-343-3950 to secure your spot.
