Fire Prevention Week

Every Second Counts, Plan 2 Ways Out!

Post Date:10/08/2017

FirePrevention2017It’s that time of the year again, Fire Prevention Week October 8 through October 14.  Fire Prevention Week is commemorated annually during the anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire in 1871. This fire, the largest in US history, taught the fire service many valuable lessons about fire prevention including preparedness and most importantly AWARENESS.

The theme for this year is “Every second counts, plan 2 ways out!” The focus is to encourage families to practice a home escape plan and learn two ways out of every room. Fire Prevention Week will culminate with the Annual Fire Expo on Friday October 13, 2017 at Independence Mall from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m.  Also, during the Expo from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m., there will be a Child Passenger Safety Seat Check in the Independence Mall parking lot on the Oleander side.
