Council meeting, Jan. 23
Items of interest include:
- APPROVED. A resolution awarding a $2 million contract to repave approximately 15 lane-miles of city streets as part of the city’s new 5-year infrastructure improvement plan. This contract would focus on repaving high-priority roads that do not also require significant drainage, water or sewer improvements. This is the city’s second 5-year infrastructure improvement plan; the previous plan was completed last year and funding for the new plan was approved in this year’s budget.
- APPROVED. An agreement with Water Street Ventures, LLC (developers of River Place) for construction of drainage improvements on Water Street. The drainage improvements are planned as part of the overall $3 million rehabilitation project now underway on Water Street in front of the old deck. In addition to drainage, this part of the project includes the installation of new water and sewer lines beneath Water Street between Chestnut and Grace streets. This agreement will expedite these improvements by allowing the developer to construct the drainage improvements with reimbursement from the city, up to $400,000.
