“Lake Love” Clean-Up Event at Greenfield Lake on 2/10/18
Cape Fear River Watch (CFRW) will be hosting a large cleanup of Greenfield Lake on Saturday, February 10th, from 9-11am, rain or shine.
The lake is being lowered for maintenance work, so CFRW is taking full advantage of this opportunity to clean up the lake. Volunteers will help collect both surface and submerged litter, which is easier to retrieve when the lake level is lower.
Litter will be collected from the lake banks and in the water. Kayaks and canoes will be available to use during the cleanup or feel free to bring your own. If you’d like to use one of ours, please arrive 15- 20 minutes early. We also encourage you to wear close toed shoes or boots and to bring waders if you have them. Gloves, pickers, bags, and water coolers will be provided. Please bring your own water bottle!
Volunteers should meet at the Greenfield Lake Boathouse at 9am; the cleanup should last approximately 2 hours. This is a family-friendly event. Parking is available adjacent to the tennis courts and the Greenfield Grind Skate Park, near the lake at 302 Willard Street. The Boathouse is past the bathrooms. Thank you for volunteering to help keep Wilmington’s waterways clean!
*Please remember not to feed the alligators, ducks, or lake wildlife. Feeding habituates animals to humans and threatens the animal’s future well-being.
