Tree Commission seeks nominations for Tree Awards

Post Date:03/06/2018 11:51 AM

The Wilmington Tree Commission (WTC) is currently soliciting nominations for their annual Tree Awards. The deadline to submit a nomination is March 31. The commission’s objective is to maintain and grow the city’s urban forest through public education and establishing award programs as incentives. The awards will recognize outstanding achievement in:

  • Preservation;
  • Landscape design;
  • Reforestation.

Wilmington has been a Tree City USA for the past 13 years and has received the prestigious Tree City USA Growth Award for the past 11 years. To become a Tree City USA, a community must meet four standards: have a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program, and an Arbor Day observance.
