A public meeting was held on Monday, April 16 to present the final conceptual design plan for North Waterfront Park.
About the Park
In 2013, the city purchased a 6.6-acre tract for the park along the northern waterfront near the Isabel Holmes Bridge. The citizens of Wilmington approved $20 million for development of the park as part of the 2016 Parks Bond. An extensive public input campaign began in 2014 to get feedback about what citizens wanted in the park, which was used to develop the park masterplan approved by City Council in 2017. Based upon public input two design options were developed and presented at a public meeting held on November 27, 2017. The public provided comments on both options at the meeting and during December via an online survey. The comments were used to develop the final schematic design.
Next steps – The design process will be completed in summer 2018 with construction to start Fall/Winter 2018.
