Inland Greens park benchThe City of Wilmington officially opened the Inland Greens Park and Golf Course on Thursday, July 19 with a ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by an open house from 5-7 p.m. The facility is located at 5945 Inland Greens Drive.

The city made $2.7 million in improvements at the park, starting with extensive drainage improvements and a ¾-quarter mile walking trail, followed by the installation of amenities such as bocce courts, a picnic shelter, bike racks, new trees and a 9-hole par 3 golf course.

The Inland Greens Golf Course opened for public play on Thursday, July 19. The public can now make tee times by phone at 910-765-7459 or online at www.inlandgreensgolf.com.

Background

The City of Wilmington purchased the Inland Greens property in 2011 as part of the 2006 voter-approved Parks and Greenspace Bond. Before that, the facility was a privately-owned 18-hole par 3 golf course.

Phase I of the Inland Greens project, which included making extensive stormwater improvements on the 33-acre site and converting the front nine holes of the golf cart to a passive park with a walking trail, was completed in 2016.

Phase II included renovating the back 9 holes of the existing golf course, the clubhouse and parking lot and adding the park amenities. A playground will be installed later this summer.
