African American Heritage coverThe second printing of “A Guide to Wilmington’s African American Heritage” has been completed. The first printing in 2013 was in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 50th anniversary of Wilmington’s Preservation Commission. The brochure is a listing of significant “religious, educational, social and cultural sites” in Wilmington. A popular educational resource for visitors and residents alike, the guide includes a fold-out site map.

Copies are available at the City of Wilmington Planning Office, located on the third floor of the city’s 305 Chestnut annex office building. Additional copies have been distributed to the Bellamy Mansion, the Commission on African-American History, the Cape Fear Museum, the Historic Wilmington Foundation and the Wilmington and Beaches Convention and Visitors Center.
