Wilmington Police Department — Police identify homicide victim 
Friday, February 22, 2019 – 2:45 p.m.  

Wilmington Police have identified Zalleux Johnson, of Wilmington, as the victim in Thursday night’s fatal shooting. 

Officers responded to the 700 block of Emory Street around 11:10 pm in reference to a ShotSpotter notification.  Upon arrival, police located Johnson, 18, with a gunshot wound and immediately began administering life saving measures until EMS arrived on-scene. EMS transported the victim to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he died. 
The investigation is on-going.

Wilmington, NC —Wilmington Police are investigating the fatal shooting of an 18 year old that happened late last night.

Officers responded to the 700 block of Emory Street around 11:10 pm in reference to a ShotSpotter notification.  Upon arrival, police located the victim with a gunshot wound and immediately began administering life saving measures until EMS arrived on-scene. EMS transported the victim to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he died. 
This is the first homicide of 2019.
