City installs pedestrian enhancements
The City of Wilmington is currently installing crosswalks and pedestrian-activated signals in two locations.
Work on pedestrian crossings at 5th/Dawson Street and 5th/Wooster Street is well under way. Handicap-accessible curb ramps, pedestrian signals and storm drainage have been installed. High-visibility crosswalk markings are being installed now and the pedestrian-activated signals will be operational by the end of February.
A Gregory-Williston Safe Routes to School Project is also underway. Work includes the installation of high-visibility crosswalks, curb ramps, sidewalk and pedestrian-activated signals. Sidewalks will be installed on 13th Street from Dawson to Ann streets and on 10th Street from Dawson to Queen streets with work expected to be completed later this spring.
