Special notes for mold concerns:

  • The New Hanover County Health Department will assess dwellings where a child under the age of 18 has a suspected mold related health condition as documented in a signed doctor’s statement. If your mold issue meets this criteria, please call 910-798-6667.
  • For renters over the age of 18, always tell your landlord about your mold problems in writing. Date your complaint and keep a copy for your records. If you need legal help, contact the NC Attorney General’s Office (NC Department of Justice) at 919-716-6000 and ask to speak with a Landlord Tenant Specialist.
