Capital Projects is made up of 3 sections providing project design, construction management and technical support services. This includes Engineering Design, Construction Project Management, GeoMatics (surveying), Computer Aided Drafting Design (CADD) and GIS mapping.
What are Capital Projects?
Capital Projects include the construction, repair, or maintenance of the City's infrastructure and generally cost $100,000 or more. These include the new Transportation Bond projects and other street & sidewalk, drainage, multi-use path, riverwalk and building improvements, as well as resurfacing of streets and more.
Construction Project Management section staff provide design and contract management services for the various stages of capital project development. This includes project scoping and budgeting, design and consultant oversight, bid and award, public coordination, construction administration and closeout.
The Design section staff provide in-house engineering, CADD, drafting and GIS mapping services.

The Geomatics section provides surveying services, mapping 3D scanning and GIS solutions for capital projects and Interdepartmental use. Staff also provide construction staking for permits, other City departments, and contractors on Capital Projects.
Geomatics preserves the location of existing centerline right-of-way monumentation and works with private development to make sure future developments include these valuable assets. Monument requirements are specified in the municipal code in Section 18-372.
Private property staking is not provided by the City.
