Spark the Arts -- Live on Stage ProductionThursday, December 5 @ 7 pm Cost: Free
Location: Hannah Block Historical USO/Community Arts Council
A live on stage program featuring at-risk youth is designed to shed light on homelessness and sponsored by a “Spark the Arts” grant. The production will take place the Hannah Block Community Art Center and 2nd Street Stage – with light and sound. We are also asking folks to bring nonperishables as a donation for Good Shephard.
Learn to Swim ProgramIn Partnership with the YMCA Cost: Free
Each summer, in partnership with the YMCA, students enrolled in Martin Luther King Center and the Derrick Davis Center at Maides Park enjoy swimming lessons two days a week during the months of July and August. Swimming lessons are provided at no extra cost.
Kayaking | Paddle boarding | Zip-lining| Hiking | Rock Wall ClimbingOutdoor programs such as kayaking, paddle boarding, zip lining and rock climbing are provided to give at-risk youth an outdoor recreation experience at no extra cost or a nominal fee. Transportation to and from most activities will be provided by city staff. We are happy to open these opportunities for youth to also participate in creative and performing art.
