Services

• Manage and maintain 254 traffic signals (212 NCDOT-owned and 42 City-owned), more than 20,000 traffic signs, and implement pavement markings
• Monitor 40 traffic cameras and adjust traffic signal operations
• Maintain more than 900 City-owned streetlights
• Monitor and report neighborhood traffic conditions with speedminder feedback signs, radar units, and portable cameras for intersection studies

Traffic Signals

• The Traffic Engineering Division maintains traffic signals inside and outside the city limits. Learn how a traffic signal operates. 

• Request traffic signal timing modifications:

 Traffic Signal Timing Request Form

If you notice the following traffic emergencies, immediately report to 9-1-1:

• Traffic signals that are completely out (no power)
• Traffic signal with missing displays (red, yellow or green indications)
• Traffic signs that are missing, such as Stop, One Way or Do Not Enter signs
