Councilmember JC Lyle
Bio
JC Lyle's purpose is to strengthen the social infrastructure of our community through public policy, nonprofit leadership, and housing affordability.
A 30-year resident of the City of Wilmington, JC has helped rebuild homes and communities after hurricanes, designed subdivisions, handled permitting and rezoning, grown a small nonprofit housing ministry into a regional force (WARM NC), worked in affordable housing development, and now serves as a consultant supporting nonprofit leadership and capacity building. Her public policy experience includes chairing the Wilmington Planning Commission and overseeing the North Carolina Housing Trust Fund. She was elected to Wilmington City Council in 2025 and focuses on housing affordability, land use, and economic development.
She earned her MBA at UNCW's Cameron School of Business and was named 2024 Outstanding Seahawk Alumni. JC has never met a microphone she didn’t like and frequently delivers keynotes and workshops at local and state conferences, as well as the Coalition for Home Repair’s national convention in 2021.
Her hard work and expertise have been recognized by civic and media organizations, the Wilmington Biz 100 list, Wilmington Rotary Club’s Leaders in Service (inaugural year), YWCA Women of Achievement, and a Coastal Entrepreneur Award in the Nonprofit Sector category, given by the Greater Wilmington Business Journal.
In her free time, she explores our region's natural beauty with her husband, Jared Kerr, and their two dogs. They also love to travel and volunteer at their church, Wrightsville United Methodist, where they first met.
